Do You Want Glowing and Luminous Skin? Here are 9 Valuable Tips to Achieve it!

Hey there: My posts may contain affiliate links. If you buy something through one of those links, you won’t pay a dime more, but I’ll get a small commission, which helps keep this place running. Lastly, I will NEVER recommend a product I have not used or would not use. Believe that!

Ahh, skin….Who wants perfect dewy skin? Uh, everyone! Achieving the “perfect glow” does take work.  It can depend on your genes, but obtaining a great complexion is possible.

When I was a teenager, I didn’t have cystic acne, but I had breakouts like everyone else.  My Mom took me to the dermatologist and prescribed pills and topical treatments. After a while of doing those things, the breakouts would disappear but would always return.

I grew frustrated and just stopped doing anything the dermatologist recommended.  Eventually, I grew out of whatever stage my skin was going through and it kind of fixed itself.

A natural glow is undoubtedly a significant component and a signal of healthy skin. Still, there are several causes like stress, lack of sleep, eating habits, and age that can rob your complexion of its radiance.

Beautiful and glowing skin reflects good health, and it is possible to achieve it with the right skincare habits and lifestyle practices.  Now that I’m older, I’ve been following these few ways to get and KEEP a healthy and glowing complexion.

Drink water

Drinking water is essential for glowing skin because water creates the crux of your skin's natural barrier. Your skin is prone to damage when there is water loss from this barrier.

If you want to see what wonder water does to your skin, drink 2-3 liters of water every day.  When you are hydrated from the inside, it will show on the outside! Hence, fewer wrinkles!

Cleanse or double cleanse skin properly

The first step to a skincare routine for glowing skin is squeaky clean skin. When you properly cleanse, you ward off the dirt, makeup residue, excess oil, and dead skin cells from your skin.

This is very helpful to prepare your skin for your skincare routine's remaining steps. Also, finding the right facial cleansing tool is key as well.

Exfoliate

On the dermal layer, our skin tends to “make” dead skin cells. These dead cells move up to the surface and then shed off. Shedding these cells becomes a task as we age, as they don't shed on their own.

With exfoliation, you can get rid of these dead skin cells, as they come in enzymatic, physical, and chemical forms. However, make sure you don’t exfoliate everyday. It’s not necessary.

Hydration

The complexion of your skin gets dull and sometimes accentuates wrinkles with a lack of hydration.

Typically this type of cream and lotions are more hydrating than the serums, oils, and other formulas because they are the blends of water components and oil that carry the hydrating ingredients into the top layers of your skin, thus helping to hold moisture. An exception to this, in my opinion would be hyaluronic acid.

Apply sunscreen

Your skin gets protected from the harsh rays with the help of sunscreen. When people get exposed to the sun for a prolonged time, it can lead to dark patches, dullness, fine lines, wrinkles, and tanned skin.

Therefore, wearing a broad-spectrum sunscreen, irrespective of the season throughout the year is very useful. One of my favorite facial sunscreens you can find here.

Don't just pick ANY product

A big mistake that the majority of people make is that when they purchase skincare products, they don't do their research and just pick anything, whether they have had a recommendation or saw a commercial.

It is essential to know your skin type before buying any product. When you buy the right product, it will improve your appearance and help reduce any irritation.

Use Vitamin C serum

Whether you plan to simplify your skincare routine or amp it up, using Vitamin C serum will be the best option for you.

With the help of topical Vitamin C that is a multipurpose workhorse, you can easily enhance, protect, and repair your skin. It helps with dark spots, uneven skin tone and brightness.  You want glowing skin right?!

Watch what you eat and drink

There is a saying that 'you are what you eat,' which makes sense when you switch to a healthy diet. When you eat healthy and fresh food, you will notice that your skin will reciprocate and offer the glow you want.

Some of the healthy foods include avocados, broccoli, tomatoes, fish, lemon, and oranges. I mean, you CAN have the not so healthy stuff as well, but in moderation.

Get plenty of sleep

When you have adequate sleep, it can assist in exfoliation and cell turnover. It is essential to get at least 7-8 hours of sound sleep to get glowing skin, as lack of sleep can result in dark circles and puffy eyes.

Our skin gets strength from collagen that is a skin protein, and collagen production is stimulated when we get enough sleep.
