Fall Makeup Is On It's Way-Are You Ready for Them?
Just like that, fall is officially around the corner, with most of us having spent the last year and a half in our bedrooms, with our pajamas on. Almost none of us have put in the effort to dress up, much less put on makeup. And that's understandable.
By the time fall comes, there's a great chance you're done the no-makeup makeup of summer. Since the world has started to get back on track, there have been some exciting developments in makeup trends worldwide.
Summer's great, and as much as we all love summer's rosy cheeks and bronzed eyes, we know everyone's been eagerly waiting to wear the fall 2021 makeup trends ever since they first made their debut during the fashion month around half a year ago.
These looks will have you discard your old faves just like a summer fling, from soap brows to interesting new ways to apply eyeliner. So if you're ready to move on to cooler weather, we've rounded up some of the best fall fashion makeup looks you'll be wearing throughout the season!
Electric Eyes:
Neon eyelids are classic for summer makeup trends, but can they work in fall? Definitely! At Versace, we saw electric blue lids and swipes of hot fuchsia that put all the other gloomy fall shades to shame. If your autumn wardrobe typically consists of blacks, browns, and more blacks, what better way to add some color?
If you're obsessed with bright winged eyes, you'll want a flat brush, an eyeshadow palette, and a bottle of this mixing liquid that can turn powder pigments into paintable colored creams. Dip your brush into the liquid, swipe it over your preferred choice of eyeshadow, and then over your eyelids to create a creamy, hazy line.
Vampy Lips for fall 2021
This makeup look for fall 2021 is all about contrast and polarity: Dark plum or berry-colored lipstick becomes extra vampy and rich against bare eyelids and skin. This look is the perfect go-to when you're lazy or don't have a lot of time to ready yourself, but you still want a brush of color on your lips.
Deep-hued lips have always been a fall favorite, and this year the berry shades have been taking the world by storm. The plum berry shade is so exceptionally pleasing that it can sometimes be considered neutral too.
You can go with an extra matte lipstick to capture that '90s grunge makeup look when trying out this one.
Red Lips and a Winged Eye:
Honestly, nothing gets more timeless and classic than red lipstick and a winged eyeliner, which is why this look deserves a top spot on the list for fall 2021 makeup trends, as well as for all future seasons too.
You can give your lips that dim, dispersed finish and make this look a little modern by using a bright-red matte lipstick, or, if you're a little lazy, you can recreate the look instead with a lip stain and then smudge it with a tissue. You can also apply your lipstick to the center of your lips only and use your finger to blend out the edges.
Soap Brows:
It looks like the soap brow style isn't going anywhere for a few years at most, and it's undoubtedly here this fall 2021 and was even shown at New York Fashion Week. It's the ideal trend for getting that intense, brushed-up brow, and it looks great with a neutral blush, splash of copper over the eyes, and a shiny lip.
Everyone is a big fan of that fluffy brow effect that you get from soap brows. All you do is moisten a spooly brush, rub it against the beauty product (usually a brow soap), and swipe it through your eyebrows to shape them.
Lilac Eyeshadow:
This lovely shade of lilac looks positively gorgeous, so no surprise it's one of the hottest makeup trends for 2021. The best thing about this specific color is that you can match it with no-makeup makeup vibes and full-face looks. You have a lot of space to experiment with it, and it can easily fall into your routine.
Smokey Lids:
It takes just a thick streak of deep green eyeshadow to recreate a fall 2021 makeup look. You can smudge any pigmented eyeshadow of your choice across your eyelids with your finger for a badass look, or grab a gel eyeliner and an angled makeup brush for a more accurate finish.
To give your typical smokey eye an update for this fall, you can also use a khaki or olive green color. Warmer and softer than the usual grays and blacks, this matte-green eyeshadow is the ideal shade for a daytime smokey eye.
Underline:
Winged eyeliner is the Little Black Dress of eyeliner — it looks great on everyone and will probably never go out of style. You've already tried the winged, the cat, the classic eyeliners; how about this season, you try it with a twist by sweeping a bold eyeliner under your eye instead of over it and then winging it out. These underliners have been spotted everywhere on the runways this fall.
Accent Stickers:
Constellation freckles and little star accents have singlehandedly convinced a vast majority of us to step out of our makeup comfort zones this fall 2021.
And not to be worried, you don't have to deck out your entire face in stickers and decals if you're not comfortable with it—paste on a few sparkly stones around your eyes for a simple yet hot look.
You can dip the backs of the gems in a little of any adhesive (you can use eyelash glue), then use a pair of tweezers to place the jewels easily. You can add a few star stickers for extra glamour.
Abstract Eyes:
This fall 2021 makeup trend is all about thick lines, negative space, and abstract details, so be sure to have some pigmented eyeshadow and a couple of detailing brushes before giving this look a try.
When you've got palettes full of bronze, peach, burgundy, and pink shades, you don't even need colored eyeliner pencils.
